About the Project

Join one of Californiaโ€™s largest infrastructure projects currently under construction in the Central Valley. This multi-billion-dollar transportation project includes a 32-mile alignment with complex civil scopes such as bridges, viaducts, tunnel work, utility relocations, trench sections, railroad coordination, roadway improvements, and major river crossings.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Field Engineer to support field operations, planning, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and technical execution on a large-scale heavy civil project. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, consultants, and field teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

โœ” Review plans, specifications, and develop construction schedules aligned with project milestones

โœ” Coordinate subcontractors for procurement, preconstruction deliverables, and readiness activities

โœ” Assist with bid packages, quote collection, and contract preparation

โœ” Prepare work plans, construction packages, and lead preconstruction coordination meetings

โœ” Update and distribute work schedules while coordinating notifications with internal teams and agencies

โœ” Monitor daily field activities and verify work complies with plans and specifications

โœ” Coordinate with design teams to resolve technical issues and field changes

โœ” Support subcontract administration including RFIs, submittals, correspondence, and performance tracking

โœ” Assist with monthly progress billing, reporting, forecasting, and issue resolution

โœ” Participate in change orders and claims documentation

โœ” Maintain strong working relationships with owners, subcontractors, consultants, and field personnel

โœ” Enforce jobsite safety standards, cleanliness, and productivity expectations

โœ” Identify changing site conditions and help develop solutions proactively

โœ” Support permits, crossing applications, inspections, quality checks, and closeout documentation

Qualifications

โœ” Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

โœ” 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience

โœ” Strong understanding of construction safety and OSHA regulations

โœ” Experience with cost tracking, estimating, forecasting, and contracts

โœ” Knowledge of CPM scheduling and resource planning preferred

โœ” Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

โœ” Primavera P6 experience preferred

โœ” Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

โœ” Detail-oriented with the ability to identify discrepancies early

โœ” Self-motivated with strong work ethic and ability to work independently or within a team

Preferred Background

โœ” Transportation infrastructure projects

โœ” Bridges, structures, utility relocations, rail, tunnels, or roadway construction

โœ” Public works or design-build project experience
